Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy has become an important and widely available component of the diagnostic evaluation of diseases of the lower urinary tract in dogs and cats, providing a minimally invasive approach to many urogenital conditions such as including urolithiasis, urethral obstruction, polyps, masses and anatomical abnormalities such as ectopic ureters.

Cystoscopy involves the use of a cystoscope, which is a rigid endoscope equipped with a light and camera, to visualise the inside of the bladder and urethra. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and is used to examine the inside of the bladder and urethra in great detail, providing valuable information about the health of these structures.
